Academic Excellence and Early Training:
Dr. Tiwari completed his medical graduation from Maharani Laxmi Bai Medical College, Jhansi, in 1992 with honors. He topped the postgraduate entrance examination and went on to pursue his M.S. in Orthopaedics from Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial Medical College, Kanpur, in 1996. During his postgraduate training, he specialized in the Ilizarov technique, limb lengthening, and correction of severe deformities, along with mastering general orthopaedic procedures.
Clinical Leadership and Surgical Milestones:
Following his post-graduation, Dr. Tiwari served as Head of the Department of Orthopaedics at Nazareth Hospital, Allahabad, for over twelve years. During this time, he performed a wide range of orthopaedic and spine surgeries. In 2003, he achieved a significant milestone by performing his first independent Total Hip Replacement and Total Elbow Replacement, becoming the first surgeon in Allahabad to do so.
International Fellowships and Advanced Expertise:
To further enhance his skills, Dr. Tiwari pursued a Fellowship in Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine at Singapore General Hospital under the mentorship of Dr. Paul Chang, a globally renowned expert. Here, he gained advanced expertise in arthroscopic procedures and sports injury management.
He later completed his MCh (Orthopaedics) in the United Kingdom at Ninewells Hospital and Medical School. Under the guidance of eminent surgeons such as Professor David Rowley and Mr. Ben Clift, he received extensive training in primary and revision joint replacement surgeries of the hip, knee, shoulder, elbow, and ankle. During this period, he mastered robotic, navigation-assisted, and minimally invasive joint replacement techniques.
Contributions to Sports Biomechanics and Teaching:
Dr. Tiwari also excelled in sports biomechanics at the Tayside Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Training Centre, UK. His pioneering research on fast bowling analysis led him to develop the first biomechanical model for fast bowlers.
After returning to India, he played a key role in establishing joint replacement departments in Noida and later in Abuja, Nigeria. Since joining Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in 2011, he has been actively performing advanced robotic and computer-navigated joint replacement surgeries while training DNB students. His annual arthroplasty course is highly regarded among young orthopaedic surgeons.
